The other day, a student asked me for advice on getting past child abuse. She is doing a project for another class and wanted my opinion. After reminding her that I am not a clinician, I told her that the first thing I would tell anyone is to get professional help. I then gave her a list of resources for child abuse victims and\/or those who may need to support victims or report abusers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COVID-19 has placed increasing stress on families, especially where children were already at risk.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the resources were already in my blog post about fiction and nonfiction books to read about psychology<\/a>. After searching more and emailing them, I decided to make separate blog post. That was not the first time I had compiled a list of resources for a student. I’ve emailed such lists, shared hard copies in class, and posted them on learning platforms such as CANVAS<\/a>. Such platforms vary from college to college (and colleges themselves switch at the most inconvenient moments)… So I’ve decide it would be much easier to provide a permanent blog post on the topic!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember, child abuse includes physical<\/strong>, sexual<\/strong>, and emotional<\/strong> abuse as well as neglect<\/strong>.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n
