My expertise is in the area of experimental psychology (primarily social, although I have used cognitive methods frequently). I have extensive experience with quantitative methods and data collection (particularly with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qualtrics.com\/\">Qualtrics<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I am willing to do freelance consulting on research design and implementation, including the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Consult on study design and implementation, including<ul><li>Experimental and correlational study design<\/li><li>Power analyses<\/li><li>IRB applications<\/li><li>Data collection planning<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Supervise data collection<ul><li>Set up Qualtrics surveys<\/li><li>Set up <a href=\"https:\/\/jessicaeblack.org\/research\/tips-on-using-mturk-with-qualtrics\/\">MTurk with Qualtrics<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Analyze data<ul><li>Query me for specifics! I have experience with measurement and scale development (classical test theory, IRT; EFA, CFA, invariance testing), most Regression models (including logistic, interaction &amp; mediation models&#8230;), ANCOVA, mixed models, etc.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Write up results<ul><li>Willing to write up method and results in most cases<\/li><li>Consult on introductions\/lit review, and discussion<\/li><li>APA formatting<\/li><li>Tables, figures<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Area of content expertise<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I am willing to advise more broadly on topics within my areas of expertise. My own research program focuses on issues that arise at the intersection of morality, narrative, and imagination. I have been studying moral psychology since 2010, when I began to consider my Masters Thesis. Before deciding on psychology, I considered studying for a PhD in philosophy. As such, I have more background in philosophy than many psychologists. Philosophy has informed my approach to moral psychology and psychology of fiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Much of my published research focuses on the effects of fiction (vs. nonfiction) in print and film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">I have also extensive experience with scale development. Three of my measures of different morally relevant constructs are <a href=\"https:\/\/jessicaeblack.org\/research\/research\/\">available on this blog<\/a>. I have also developed measures of exposure to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/316317123_Fiction_Genre_Exposure_and_Moral_Reality\">fiction<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/333786575_Recognition_as_a_Measure_of_Television_Exposure_Multiple_Measures_and_their_Relationship_to_Theory_of_Mind\">television<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:17px\">Fees depend on specifics of job.
