Area of content expertise
I am willing to advise more broadly on topics within my areas of expertise. My own research program focuses on issues that arise at the intersection of morality, narrative, and imagination. I have been studying moral psychology since 2010, when I began to consider my Masters Thesis. Before deciding on psychology, I considered studying for a PhD in philosophy. As such, I have more background in philosophy than many psychologists. Philosophy has informed my approach to moral psychology and psychology of fiction.
Much of my published research focuses on the effects of fiction (vs. nonfiction) in print and film.
I have also extensive experience with scale development. Three of my measures of different morally relevant constructs are available on this blog. I have also developed measures of exposure to fiction and television.
