Yesterday was the final day of the 2019 Morgan National show, and as usual I spent most of my free time there. As usual, that is, since 2013, when I moved to Norman, OK to go to grad school at OU. Each year, my mother has come out from California to stay with me during the show. It’s great, because she can see the show (and many old friends) while I work during the day. I go in the evenings and on Saturday.
It’s fun! Of course, I always get a bit envious. In some ways, I really wish my life allowed for showing Morgans again as I did as a child. And of course, there are new fashions I do not like, things I would do differently if I were showing. But I am not, and it’s not easy to bring a horse to the Nationals… it’s challenging to train a horse to do that level. Of course, no matter how trained the horse, it may fall apart under pressure!
So congratulations to all the participants in the 2019 Grand National & World Championship Show! Here are some pictures I took from the rail, starting with headshots (I’ll do another blog with more pictures when I have time…).
Feel free to download!
They are not great (see howardschatzberg.com for official photographs), but it’s always fun too find a surprise picture of your horse or a horse/person you know. You can buy me a coffee if you’re feeling grateful (link below).
These are in order…
Starting Wednesday night, I believe. But I can’t recall all the classes, and no time to look up now! I am labeling with the (broad) discipline.
