Today we went to the fair. Just down the street, and not at all bad, considering they charge you nothing to get in. We’d been to the horse show a few weeks ago. Saw a bit of swine today. And piglets! They had a little petting zoo with four-day-old piglets. Darling. Rodrigo went around petting pigs (once he got used to the fact that they twitch and squeal when you touch them). Dairy goats quite limited compared to Humboldt County, which has a very strong dairy goat show. Lots of chickens, a few bunnies, and Turkeys:
A second place turkey… but the Grand Champion wasn’t all puffed up. |
Also a lot full of vintage cars, smallish versions of the standard Midway machines (and they cost as much as or more than the Huge ones at the Humboldt Co Fair… our last experience with fair prices). And very usefully, a Democratic Party booth where I registered to vote and the boys picked up “Democrats Care” stickers to wear on their shirts.
Not at all bad when you consider that the Oklahoma State Fair starts next week. Anyone with really good animals will be saving them. I’m still debating whether to get the expensive tickets to Xtreme Bulls, the evening of the 21st. The only seats left are way up to the left of the in-gate.
Wonder if the coliseum is going to smell the same as it did 20 years ago….
